More Golf Etiquette Tips

Golf is a game built on respect. Respect for the course, respect for the rules, and respect for the other players sharing the round with you. Learning and following good golf etiquette is one of the things that separates golfers who are genuinely fun to play with from those who are not. Here are some important etiquette reminders worth keeping in mind every time you head out.
Repair Your Ball Marks on the Green
Every time a ball lands on a green from a distance, it leaves a small indentation in the turf. These marks need to be repaired. Use a divot tool, a tee, or even a key. Insert it around the edge of the mark, push inward from all sides, and smooth out the surface with your putter. Repairing your own mark and maybe one extra takes less than thirty seconds and keeps the greens smooth for everyone.
Rake the Sand Traps
After you play a shot from a bunker, rake the sand. Smooth out your footprints and any marks your shot left behind. Hang the rake outside the bunker when you're done. It only takes a moment and it means the next player who ends up in that trap faces a fair lie instead of a pit you left behind.
Stay Out of Other Players' Lines
On the putting green, never walk through the line another player's ball will travel to the hole. It's easy to forget, especially when there are four balls on the green and you're trying not to get in the way. Make an effort to walk around everyone's putting lines, not through them.
Keep Pace With the Group Ahead
One of the most common complaints on any golf course is slow play. Keep up with the group in front of you. Be ready to hit when it's your turn. Know your yardage before you get to your ball. Limit practice swings. Pick up if you're out of the hole. Golf is more fun for everyone when the round moves along.
